Isha's not normally one for houseguests, but he figured he'd make an exception for the injured angel who requested refuge after crash-landing directly into his backyard. While sheltering him, however, he soon discovers the angel to be much more of a clumsy nuisance than he thought he had any reason to anticipate.

Melial tries his best to be good while waiting for his broken wings to heal, but he finds it harder to remain totally free of sin while having to inhabit a corporeal form filled with flesh, organs, biological urges, pain receptors and everything else he never had to deal with in Heaven. It doesn't help that the modern world might as well be an alien planet compared to how it was in Biblical times.

It's gonna be a weird couple of weeks.

I don't usually read much fiction, but Hopeless Organic hooked me and I had to finish it within a 24 hour period!

I instantly liked Isha and Melial, their dynamic makes for a great heart of the book. It was easy to root for them ending up together. Melial learning about the human world from Isha feels like a deep well which plenty of further inspiration could be drawn from.

Overall I think the author struck a good tonal balance between building up the main characters' romance and tackling the problem of evil. It didn't feel like either side was neglected in service of the other.

The book has a good sense of humor, lots of it stemming from Isha and Melial's dynamic, but also just the way the author phrases things. Certain lines like "the transitive property of condiments" were gold.

since i already responded to this lovely review through email i will take this opportunity to shout out bad cafe's youtube channel in case anyone wants to experience an even more obscure and inscrutable flavor of pilotredsun https://www.youtube.com/@badcafe

An interesting thing I noticed while reading is that despite the book having a defined art style, most character descriptions made me imagine them realistically

i am completely unable to imagine a realistic melial, i cannot even fathom such a creature existing in our universe

Earth is not worthy of such a creature existing withing its realm

finished reading yesterday... the one thing i think was missing was illustrations of the epilogue..

cool book with a few twists for a casual omo read of slice of life with a$$hole god

thanks! i have no idea what omo means though.

y'know you're pretty right now that you mention it. it honestly never occurred to me to draw anything for the end of the book, though in my defense the illustrations were the biggest roadblock by far in terms of effort required to finish this book so i wasn't really looking for opportunities to add more.

maybe i'll feel like drawing something at some point, or maybe someone else might decide to draw something, idk. i gotta draw isha in the apex twink shirt at some point

we we have to wait another 2 and a half  years for the squeal hopeful synthetic.
